DULUTH: Atlanta Koi Club Annual Show of Koi and Goldfish on September 17-18 in the Gwinnett Convention Center Parking Lot. Saturday hours are 10-5PM and Sunday is 10-2P. Open and free to the public. CONYERS: 6th Annual Rockdale County Master Gardener Plant Sale. Saturday, September 24 from 10am-4pm at 1400 Parker Road. Flowers, trees, shrubs. Also garden gift items, items from local artists and craftsmen and more. Scheduled Events: belly dancing demo (11am), azalea gardening (11:30), cooking demonstration (noon), endangered wildlife presentation (12:30 and 2:30), fall wildflower art (1:30). GREENSBORO: The Lunchbag Landscape Series presents “Composting: Bins of Gold”, a free program on the simple steps and advantages of composting for the back yard garden, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 11:30 to 1 pm. Dr. George Boyhan, UGA Professor and horticulture expert, will speak at the Greene County Cooperative Extension Building, 1180 Weldon Smith Drive in Greensboro. Participants are invited to bring a lunch or buy one at the lecture. Lunch consists of a Sub sandwich (Publix), chips, a drink and a brownie. The cost is $6.00. ATHENS: “An Evening in the Gardens” presented by the UGA Trial Gardens. Thursday, September 29th, 2011 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., the Trial Gardens will be hosting an evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres, featuring live jazz by “Dial Indicators,” guided tours by Dr. Allan Armitage, and a book sale and signing. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the entrances.

PERRY: Master Gardeners at the Georgia National Fair. The “Ask a Master Gardener” booth in Heritage Hall is open each day of the fair, Oct. 7-16, from 10 AM until 4 PM. They will be available to answer questions about the home landscape and garden, and will have lawn calendars, information about classes, and various publications for sharing. There will be demonstrations on a variety of topics throughout the day.
