MANSFIELD: Advanced Training for Environmental Educators in Georgia (ATEEG), a professional certification program offered by the Environmental Education Alliance of Georgia, will offer Core Courses 1, 2, and 3 at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield, GA. The programs will begin at 1 p.m. on each Friday and adjourn at noon the following Sunday. 2011 Course Offerings: Core Course 1 (Foundations of Environmental Education) - June 24-26, 2011; Core Course 2 (Fostering Learning) - July 15-17, 2011; Core Course 3 (Assessment and Evaluation) - September 9-11, 2011 Participants have three years to complete the program and can earn two professional learning units (2 PLUs) for each Core Course completed. ATEEG is a certification program for formal and non-formal environmental educators. Admission: $210 per course for EEA members or $260 per course for non-members, plus lodging if needed.

AUGUSTA: Basic Horticulture Workshops presented by Augusta Council of Garden Clubs, Inc. beginning September 10, 2011. Morning classroom sessions will be at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 3185 Wheeler Road, Augusta, Georgia; and afternoon sessions will include a tour of a private garden or greenhouse. Workshops are open to any interested person, and preregistration deadlines are 10 days prior to each workshop. Maximum registration for each workshop is 35. Deadline for registration is 10 days prior to each session so lunch can be arranged. Cost is $24 per session which includes lunch and snacks. Workshop Dates and Topics: September 10, 2011 -- Native Plants; -October 8 - Annuals, Biennials, and Perennials; January 14 – Trees and Shrubs; February 11 – Food Gardening and Soil Preparation.
