NEWNAN: June Backyard Association Meeting guest speaker will be Mr. Scott McMahan, owner of McMahans Nursery and part-owner of Garden*Hood in Atlanta. The Backyard Association is an educational program sponsored by the Coweta County Extension Master Gardeners. The presentations are free to the public and are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Please note that this month’s meeting June 14 will be held at the Asa M. Powell Sr. EXPO Center at 197 Temple Avenue in Newnan. Please call the Extension Office at (770) 254-2620 for reservations and to register for door prizes. Plants will be available for sale at this meeting; all major credit cards, checks or cash accepted.

BLAIRSVILLE: GMRE Center Ethnobotanic Garden Tour Friday, June 3, 2011 Self Guided Tours from 10:00 to 11:45 am No registration necessary. The Ethnobotanic Garden and Woodland Medicine Trail at The Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center, 3 miles south of the Blairsville Square, on the east side of Hwy 19/129. Come spend the morning in the gardens, and learn more about native plants through live demonstrations and displays. Local artisans will demonstrate the cultural uses of plants. Tour guides will be available throughout the gardens to provide information about our plants.
