DECATUR: Aesthetic Pruning Presentation. Tuesday, January 25 at 6 PM in the Northlake Library, 3772 LaVista Road, Tucker, GA 30084. Norm Mittleider is an aesthetic pruner living in Marietta, GA who specializes in pruning Japanese maples and specimen conifers. He has over twelve years of experience and a core foundation in aesthetic pruning gleaned from studying at Merritt College in Oakland, CA. Norm teaches classes at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and volunteers in local public gardens. He will offer basic pruning instruction as well as timely tips for aesthetically pruning plants for beauty in all seasons.

Categories include barbecue and hot sauces, confections, dairy products, meat products, snack foods, and jams, jellies and sauces. Entries are judged based on flavor, best use of Georgia ingredients, Georgia theme, unique or innovative qualities, commercial appeal and originality. Floyd Master Gardeners invite you to come to Rome, Georgia for the Spring 2011 Georgia Master Gardener Association Conference. Located in beautiful northwest Georgia in an enchanted land where the rivers meet the mountains, there is something here for everyone to enjoy. On Friday, you can register early to get into the Forum to sneak and peek at all the goodies the vendors have for sale. A tour of the majestic Oakhill Museum and Gardens is planned for the afternoon. Then, join in the fun at the ECO Center for an evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres. You also will have opportunity to meet the speakers for the conference. And, best of all, you can take a ride on the Roman Holiday Riverboat. If you still have the energy, the conference continues bright and early on Saturday at the Forum.
