DESTIN, FLORIDA: MG CONFERENCE 30th Annual Florida Master Gardener Continued Training Conference October 25-27, 2010 at Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Destin, Florida. Early registration for Master Gardeners from Georgia has been extended until Thursday September 30th. This year things start a day early with two optional field trips and a Master Gardener Palm School being held on the afternoon of October 24th. Conference early registration is $245 if you stay at site hotel or $345 if you stay off-site. Single-day early registration $145. There are general sessions highlighting disease diagnosis, the issues surrounding our pollinators, guidance on using color in the landscape, a presentation on sustainable landscape care, and new and underutilized plants. GWINNETT TECHNICAL COLLEGE Octobver 15th Gwinnett Tech Hosts Vince Dooley Book Signing, Plus Fall Plant Sale and Gardening Workshops . Coach Dooley will sign and discuss his latest book: Vince Dooley's Garden: A Horticultural Journey of a Football Coach 10am-noon. Planting Workshops – Gwinnett Tech's Continuing Education Division will host two gardening workshops immediately following Dooley's presentation in The Busbee Center, Building 700. The workshops Kitchen Gardens–Vegetables in the Landscape and Flower Show Blue Ribbons Made Easy will be held at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m., respectively. Fall Plant Sale – Gwinnett Tech's Environmental Horticulture program will host its annual Fall Plant Sale from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Gwinnett Tech Greenhouse, adjacent to Building 600. Those interested in attending the book signing for Dooley or the gardening classes must register by visiting www.GwinnettTech.edu/ce and selecting the Hobbies and Personal Enrichment class schedule, or by calling 770-995-9697.
