Here’s a challenge for all of you Master Gardeners: Can we Garden Across Georgia? Walk Georgia is an 8-week program to increase your physical activity in a fun, community-oriented way. Gardening counts as exercise so gather your garden buddies and participate! She will discuss the similarities and differences of these wonderful gifts of nature and the steps you can take to attract them to your garden. Carolyn moved to Shooting Creek from Decatur, Georgia nine years ago shortly after retiring from the V. A. Medical Center. GWINNETT COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS MEETING Monday, September 20^th, Tara Dillard will present a program Vines: Consider Them First. She is a garden designer, author of 5 books, and speaker. After earning degrees in engineering and horticulture, she began designing and installing sustainable landscapes, emphasizing the balance of home-garden-life. Tara writes magazine articles and maintains a landscape design blog, www.TaraDillard.com. Based in Atlanta, GA, she lectures nationally. We will have a covered dish dinner at 6:30. FORSYTH COUNTY: Georgia Organics Organic Growing Class Begins Sept. 25 taught by Lynn Pugh of Cane Creek, Introduction to Organic Farming and Gardening is an intensive training course targeted to adults who want to know more about the science and art of organic growing. Prior experience or education is not required. The Fall 2010 in-depth class will meet on three weekends plus one extra Saturday. The class meets on Sept. 25 and 26, Oct. 9 and 10, Oct. 23 and 24, and Oct. 30. Course topics include: basics of organic growing, soils, soil biology and soil management; plant biology, crop management, composting, marketing, and certification.
