GGIA GALA: AN EVENING IN SAVANNAH - GGIA extends a special invitation to all Georgia Master Gardeners to come and enjoy a fun evening in Savannah. The Inaugural GGIA Gala will take place this fall at the elegant and historic Mighty 8th Air Force Museum. An Evening in Savannah” is manifold in its purpose. First, the association wanted to recognize those donors of the Partnership in Sustainability campaign, an on-going campaign to provide sustainable funding for the important work of the association beyond what membership dues provide. Second, it also serves as a fundraising event offering additional opportunities for industry members to support the association. Third, and perhaps the most important purpose, is to provide a fun, relaxing way to fellowship with like-minded industry folks. No one better understands the tough times that this industry has endured and continues to endure better than other members of the industry. We owe it to ourselves to take a little time from the ever-present issues and concerns that we all face. Patricia Collins was talking about Sparkleberry/Farkleberry -Vaccinium arboretum- not the hybrid Ilex. More information on this lovely under-used plant. http://pubs.caes.uga.edu/caespubs/pubcd/B987/Shrubs.htm#Sparkleberry )

A Master Gardener shared this link to a promotional video about the Perennial Plant Association conference here next summer. Narrated by Erica Glasener, it features some lovely gardens and is enjoyable to watch. Conference information isn’t available yet but the dates are July 17-22, 2011.
